Chocolate Cake

Everyday when Guy gets off the bus he asks me where Nels and me went that day.  Like we just have fun while he was at school.  We stay at home and we do our chores.  That's it.  Sometimes cleaning out the fridge takes awhile...

Summer School: Week 1

Guy made it through week one of Kindergarten summer school.  And as far as I can understand he has only been hit 3 times.  He says most the kids are nice though.

The first day of class he was suppose to draw a picture of what he would do at the festival that occurred during the story of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".  He drew a picture of himself playing the "Busytown" board game.  Makes sense...thinking of board games is a great thing to do when you are bored and that is a boring story.

The second day he wrote his name with all the e's backwards.  He does that a lot when he is writing from memory.  His numbers are backwards a lot.  I like it.  Shows character.

This is his work on the third day:
It's Lightning McQueen.  That's who he thought to draw after reading a book about Arthur.  You know, I think he might just be easily distracted...

He Has Layed Waste to all of our Crops

I helped Nels find some delicious, red strawberries to eat.  And I think that will be the last of them. He checks the plants daily for anything that might be edible and eats it.  Tiny, green strawberries included.  I like this phase in a little youngsters life.  They almost seem self-sufficient.

More Art

Guy made these.  I wish they had a use because they are the cutest things ever.

He recently drew this picture.  It's a drawing his toys, plus some of Nels's.  It's been fun to figure out what is what.  The keyboard is my favorite.

I heard him recently rooting Nels on to draw.  Later that day I found this proudly displayed in Nels' room.  Aww...

Oregon: Part 2

Day 3: Cousins!
We got to see some relatives and get all the cousins together.

Nels wasn't keen on the social situation.  Kisses make him scream.

Day 4:  Wildlife Safari
We saw all sort of weird looking animals...

Didn't get attacked by any.  But it could have been close.  Nels' found a delicious looking kibble but a goat ate it.  Nels was furious.

Riding a train!

Although, Nels' favorite ride was the park provided stroller.

Day 5: Day with Gramps
Nels found a good napping spot.

And that is it.  It seems like a short trip but I was tired.  It's good to be home.

Oregon: Part 1

I took the kids to Oregon since Guy had one week off school.  He just loves going places so I knew he'd love this.  45 minutes into the trip he asked to go home.  He threw up too.  11 hours later we arrived.  Long day but at least the kids had a nice set-up.

Day 1: Discovery Museum
We went to Salem to see Aunt Cassandra. I just laid around and complained about being tired. But the kids didn't. They ran around and complained about being restrained. After our visit Guy talked about about the girl that played with us. I kept telling him that's his aunt but he seemed convinced she was part of the museum entertainment.

Nels scavenging for food...

Guy and his museum friend...

Day 2: Oregon Coast
Grandma took us to Newport.  Guy wanted to see a fish and eat a fish.  But he didn't want to go fishing.  We could accommodate.

Outside Undersea Gardens.  Guy was actually pretty happy just looking at the fish on the side of this building.  He is glad we went though because he's a gift shop addict.

At Hatfield Marine Science Center with Grandma.  Guy gave the gift shop here a thumbs up too.

Dinner in Florence.  Guy was quite impressed despite the lack of gift shop.  Nels was too once he got some milkshake.

Little Lucy Spaces

Lucy's Little Garden is still a work in progress this year.  It's freezing and snowing here.  I don't know why I try to get away with planting before mid-June.  It's a waste of happy thoughts.

Lucy's Bench - gift from my husband's aunts and grandparents.
They used this picture for the plaque...
I didn't even take this picture.  The newspaper did and I stole if off their website back in Sept '10.  That's pretty cool.  I also remember she was mistaken for a boy this day.  She didn't care.

Lucy's Room (another work in progress)
A friend of mine made the quilt out of some of Lucy's clothes.  I'm still not sure where I want it or I'm happy hanging it that way.  Will keep thinking.   I'm slow about this stuff.  I'll need something to do next year for Lucy's birthday anyway.

Lucy's 3rd Birthday

Saturday was Lucy's 3rd birthday. So we had an adventure. Adventuring was probably one of Lucy's favorite activities as long as it didn't involve a long drive. If she could watch Shaun the Sheep (which Lucy's pronounced "BAAAA!") in the car I bet she wouldn't care about the distance.

Breakfast @ Peg's.  Have to eat up because a hiking we shall go!

The trainee...

To Vikingsholm @ Lake Tahoe...
Guy was so excited to see a castle-esque structure on that island.
He wore his "castle shirt" for a reason.

We walked down to the lake so Nels could bathe in peace.

At lunch time Nels had pretty much gone crazy from lack of sleep.  I think it helped his dance moves.

Finally, who the day was all about. Happy 3rd Birthday, Lil Lou!

Guy found a sponge and was inspired to create Spongebob and Patrick.  The only thing I helped with was opening the bottle glue.   I'm quite impressed.
