Nels is #1!

1 year old, I mean.

He got a Happy Birthday greeting from his favorite cat...
Oops, wrong picture.

Here we go... She knows not to get too close.  In fact she knows to run away.

Got to take a big walk with big brother...

Had a yummy tiny cupcake at his friend Abby's house...

Received a shopping cart from big brother...

He likes to wheel it outside and fill it full of cans.  It's never too early to train for the future.

He also changed his clothes a zillion times that day due to cake messes.

But being 1 has been grand.  It means more mischief.

Spring Break 2012: Day 5

We went to the mall!

To Build-A-Bear...  Where Guy picked out an animal that he was sure would annoy Nels.

His dog tried on about everything in the store before settling on a baseball mitt.  Guy really like some Lightening McQueen slippers but his dog said no thanks.Guy didn't like the 100 names I suggested for his dog.  He wanted to name his dog after a boy he saw - so after harassing the boy for his name, he named his pup "Jacob".  Jacob is a noisy dog.

Spring Break 2012: Day 4

Swimming! It was our first time at this pool.  It is heated and 2 feet deep.  Even Nels could walk around in it.

I wanted to take a picture of Nels in his swim suit but every time I pulled him out of the water, he would jump/fall back in.

We have no plans for day 5 yet but Guy has already requested to go swimming again.

Spring Break 2012: Day 3

Here's some pictures I took of the day with my photographic memory.

Spring Break 2012: Day 2

We ate at Chili's for lunch.  Kids ate free today - two for every one adult.  I'm an adult!  I know of two kids that like eating!  Especially this one...

We went to Swan Lake today for a little walk.  Crawl. Whatever.

What?  Safe?  Who cares about safe?!

I'm a spelunker for goodness sake!

Oh yeah.. this is about Guy's spring break.  He had fun.  He saw a "goose" and a "horse footprint".  Both are truths.  He knows things.

Spring Break 2012: Day 1

This is Guy at 7AM
Photobucket
Dressed.  Popcorn made.  Cartoon on.  I had nothing to do with this.  He just doesn't take after me.

Guy was so ready to start Spring Break because he had an activity in mind - Chuck E Cheese.
Nel wasn't displeased by the choice.

This was Guy's favorite ride.  He made Nels ride it too.  Guy stood in front and kept Nels informed on which direction he was going - up or down.

And you know what?  Chuck E Cheese, Toys R Us, and a frozen yogurt place are all lined up in the strip mall for suckers like me.

At Toys R Us a little girl was telling her mom that Guy went to her school.  Guy didn't agree.  So us moms got to talking and her daughter was right - same school, different class.  Someone has a great memory.  Guy only talks about 2 kids at school.  Keeping track of more than that is just outrageous.

Guy told me I was gross for getting 'nilla ice cream.  Nels disagreed but he was disappointed I got the cold variety.

Best Spring Break Day yet!

If you put a little boy in a wagon...

.. he's going to jump into the next wagon that comes along.

April Reads

April books are the same as last month as in I didn't finish.  But I did read these books last month, so it's a switcharoo.

Fiction: The Hunger Games
I read this book in a day so I guess that makes it good.  But it feels like I've read it before.  I'm not going to read the sequels.  I might not watch the movie.  Nothing against the book, it just promotes apathy in me.  But I shall remember it as the first book I read on my Kindle.

Non-Fiction: 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess
I liked this book a lot.  It was funny and insightful and full of hope.  I am going to look into Jen Hatmaker's other books.
