Merry Christmas!

We spent a week in Oregon for the holidays. It was a lot of fun and a little tiring!

I have been busy since we've gotten back trying to get organized and find time to play with my new Christmas presents! My in-laws got me a bread maker and my husband built me a bread slicing contraption (pictured below). Bread is delicious.

And my mom got us a video camera! Now I can film Guy and his Wiggles-inspired dances. I plan to film the new year tomorrow. We'll see how I do.

Snow Day!

It snowed today. We didn't run the errands we had planned on and just stayed in with the minor exception of playing in the snow. Guy's not sure about it. It's cold and hard to walk in. He stayed on the shoveled sidewalks for the most part. When he ventured off into the deep snow he'd always call for help.

Here is Guy on our porch. I threw him out there for while so I didn't have to chase him around.

What I love...

I love it when Guy is sooo quiet that I know he is up to something terrible but when I sneak up on him he is just reading a book.

Thanksgiving in Fort Bragg

We spent our Thanksgiving in Fort Bragg, CA. We've never been there, don't know anyone there, we just needed a vacation. Being at the ocean is a big plus.

I was a little worried about the 6 hour drive and sharing a room with a 14 month old. I thought it might not be a relaxing trip! But it was! We stopped every two hours on the drive to play at a park or in one case, a cemetery. We couldn't find a park! Guy liked the cemetery, though. He went to every headstone and gave it a pat while yelling "Aaahh!" which meant "Happy Thanksgiving!" And sharing a room was easy. Guy loved spending every hour of the day with us. We had to sit in dark silence for 10 minutes or so at 8PM so Guy would go to sleep then we could do whatever. It worked out great. I'm looking forward to another vacation!

We did lots of hiking and exploring. There we many beautiful parks and beaches around. We didn't make it to them all!

Guy liked the beach. Not a love, yet. He was suspicious of the water and the sand and the shells. He discovered many things - like sand in the eyes is a minor annoyance. But, throwing sand in the air when it is windy is so fun it's worth any annoyance. Sand also tastes funny. Guy couldn't figure out if it was a good funny or a bad funny, not even after several handfuls.

Guy's favorite part of the trip was this chocolate banana shake. We only ate out once a day and the rest of the meals we brought with us. We (okay, just me) like to be frugal even when on vacation.
