Reusable Sandwich Wraps

I was using Wrap-N-Mats for my husbands lunches for the past 8 months or so but the lining has cracked it them so I've been using tin foil for the past month - how wasteful! Instead of ordering more I decided to make my own. The store-bought ones cost $7 each and these three cost me about $5 to make, $1.67 each.

I don't know how well they will work yet but tried one for the first time today! I need more practice getting the shape right (I just winged it pretty much) but I'm happy what $5 and one hour of my time made. If my husband has no complaints I'll be making more shortly. Might even make some chip/cookie holders too.

No More Friday Fun Day

We got our oil changed and our car washed today instead of saving that for Friday. Shucks! We didn't get nachos liked planned. We shared a hot dog instead. It was the best hot dog I've ever had while getting my oil changed. In fact it was the best 79 cent hot dog ever.I'm caught up for the week except I still need to scrub the things under the stove top burners. And I have some sewing to do today. I guess I better get on that if I don't want to do it tomorrow!

Food Update

Here's our dinner from the other night. We had an early Thanksgiving. We even watched our Charlie Brown Thanksgiving DVD before our meal. We probably won't be eating turkey on Thanksgiving so don't worry about us getting sick of turkey.
On Monday I baked some delicious Lemon Poppy Seed Bread. This morning I had it sitting too close to the edge of the counter and a little boy ate it. Did I mention I just vacuumed yesterday evening? Having tall children has it's disadvantages.

Cleaning the Kitchen!

Here is a pretty embarrassing photo of my kitchen... to my defense, Guy put the stuff on the floor.

Ahhh... much nicer! Guy is in the way back - he just sorted the recycling and was in the process of unloading the dryer. He tries to be helpful.

Book Sale

We went to a book sale this weekend that was $6 for a bag of books. I had a couple books in our bag and was contemplating putting them back until my husband found the handyman and hunting books. Guy found an Elmo board book and some cassette tapes of kids songs. I found some craft books, some game books, and a book on squirrels - everyone's favorite rodents! It took us over an hour to pick out our books and we were reading all day Sunday.

Happy Halloween

Guy was a spider this Halloween. His grandma got him this costume before he was even born! I finished knitting the hat for him and it was way too big but I was able to take it in a lot. I was pretty sick with morning sickness on Halloween so we didn't do much. But Guy went out for a little walk and had a delicious Dum-Dum sucker. He ate the whole thing! Not all of the stick, though... He practiced a little self control.
