Cutest PJs Ever

I found these at a thrift store for $2.99! I didn't want to buy anything and was just "browsing" but I couldn't leave without these.
They are for Guy - not me! :(

Guy's Book List

More of Guy's favorites. What can I say? Guy is a good listener. He can turn pages now. So far he has only ripped one page out of a book and torn a cover off another one. Good thing I bought that bookbinding tape! I have a feeling I'm going to run out.

Recently Finished:
We took a break from the big kid books and read a bunch of picture books. I want to read every book on Guy's bookshelf to him before he is old enough to ask me to read the same ones over and over again, just to make sure I can stand them! Plus I have to practice different voices.

Thrifty Thursday: Puzzle!

My husband and I wanted a puzzle. We looked at the store and found nothing we were passionate about so it seemed kind of silly to pay full price. We went to a thrift store and found the following for $9 and some change. We even used a coupon - at a thrift store. Haha.We bought two 3-D puzzles (already finished the little one), two LotR games (played one - was a little dull, but we got our moneys worth), Munchkin, and Acquire. We like Munchkin so that was a super find. We aren't sure if we are going to keep Acquire, but I bought it because we looked so hard for that game for my father-in-law several years ago and ended up just buying him the new version. I can sell this game on eBay and get our $9 back (+ some) if we feel the need.

The most exciting thing about this is my husband went shopping with me and actually didn't hate it. I was browsing the baby clothes at the thrift store and he said "You didn't tell me we were here for baby clothes!" So I ditched that idea right away so it wouldn't ruin his trip. I like to see my husband be thrifty. It makes me happy and excited.

Wordless Wednesday: Baby Can't Walk

Scrapbook Pages : Wedding and Baptism

For the second week, my husband watched Guy for 2 hours so I could ignore them both and do crafts. I did scrapbooking again since I have some catching up to do.

I did two pages for a friends wedding we went to in May and Guy's baptism which happened in May, too.
I finished my four pages a little faster than last week so I was able to work on this! It's all done! For my baby shower one of my grandma's best friends made me this. It is so cool! It folds up into the envelope, but the embellishments and techniques she used are really advanced in my opinion. There were ten spots for pictures so I have a picture of Guy on for every month: Sept-June.

Food Review: Kashi Oatmeal Raisin Flax Cookies

YUCK! I tried one of these and wasn't happy about it. This was not dessert like at all. Not even like an oatmeal raisin dessert. Maybe a radish and bran dessert. I packed one in my husband's lunch on Tuesday. He didn't say anything about it and it was missing from his lunch box when he came home. "Phew!" I thought, "I can get rid of these without throwing them out!" So I packed another. My husband came home sad on Wednesday because he forgot to tell me how icky he thought these cookies where. He agreed that they had no cookie quality except the shape. So into the garbage they went.

Scrapbook Pages : My Birthday and Easter

Today my husband watched Guy and put him to bed so I could have some time to myself. I had two uninterrupted hours of ME time!! My husband can be pretty swell sometimes.

I hope to make this a weekly thing because it was a lot of fun. I spent the two hours listening to music and scrapbooking. I got two 2-page layouts done.

Almost Summer!

I live in Nevada. It's hot here and it's not even summer yet!

Our dinner diet has not been that nutritious unless you count milkshakes and watermelon as meals. So it's time to use some summer cooking equipment:

-George Foreman Grill
I found one free on Craigslist last year and I love this thing. I make mainly hamburgers and chicken in this, but it's pretty versatile.

Family favorites are whole chickens, meatballs, or roasts.

-Toaster Oven
Anything goes! I do tiny baking batches or reheating in here.

-Cold Food
Not an instrument, but in the summer I like to serve pitas, salads, and lots of fruit.

Just Mommy & Me: Day 4

Another 5 AM day! Thankfully after an hour of play Guy was ready to take a nap. And so was I! We woke up and headed to Church. Guy loves singing at Church and he likes flirting with the ladies.

After Church, we went shopping for diapers. The cutest baby store in town, Rockabye, had one cloth diaper for sale so we bought that but it is a little big, but it feels as soft as Guy's softest stuffed animal! We also bought some gDiapers. It will be our 1st time trying them and I'm so excited about it! They are the perfect hybrid between cloth and disposables. I think they will be great for camping!

We then headed for lunch. My favorite place in town is called Emerald City Cafe and it was Guy's first time there. He likes it now too.

And what's a day without a park visit? This one was pretty crappy for crawling around but we wanted a view today.

After going home for a nap, we went swimming! Guy went underwater a couple times! Not on purpose, mommy was just being clumsy. Surprisingly, Guy didn't hate me for it. He just coughed and wouldn't open his eyes for awhile. He likes being held on his tummy in the water like he's swimming.

We swam for awhile but we got tired! We came home and played and napped a little then we started making dinner while thinking what we could do tomorrow to pass the time. Then the front door burst open and it was my husband. Thank goodness. I was scared for a second. He wasn't suppose to be home for another day. Guy was so excited he was able to wish his papa a Happy Father's Day!

Just Mommy & Me: Day 3

Today started at 5AM. Guy wanted to PLAY! Ugh... so I pulled my blankets out to the living room and laid around while Guy had his fun crawling over me and stealing the covers.

After playing, eating, and napping, we went shopping. Guy picked out his daddy's birthday present. I found some cloth diaper stuff at a thrift store. And Guy was attacked by a puppet.
After our shopping, we stopped at the library. Guy built a wall out of giant foam Legos so I'd stop taking his picture. [I LOVE these! I want to get some for our home.]

Then Guy crawled across a bridge. He almost fell in!

The playing at the library made Guy hungry so we went next door for the lunch buffet at Round Table pizza. Guy's favorite was the chocolate pudding. Side note: I don't let him eat like this. He eats little tiny pieces of food.

We went home for a nap. Then it was time to party. We walked to our friend Krista's to help decorate for a birthday party! We also watched Mermaids while we were over there. Guy thought Christina Ricci was pretty cute! The party started pretty late so we only celebrated with the birthday boy for a little while. We walked back home and Guy fell fast asleep while visions of Spongebob Squarepants danced in his head.

"I'm here for the party! LET ME IN!!!"

Just Mommy & Me: Day 1&2

My husband went on a camping trip - left Thursday night. I wasn't sure what to expect without him around. I've always had someone to help me with Guy. We're surviving.

Just me & Guy...

On Thursday after my husband left, Guy had a bath and then he played a bit before bed. This is his new Elmo chair. I bought it Thursday at a children's resale shop.

Today (Friday) we spent the morning playing at Gymboree. Mostly older kids today, but Guy is fine with that. He likes to stare.
We had lunch at Port of Subs (sandwich shop). Guy liked his food. He had some wheat bread, chicken, cheese, and half an olive. They didn't have any produce Guy could eat so that was a bummer.

After lunch I figured I should try to get some fruit down the boy. We got a Berry Berry Extraordinary sherbet at Ben & Jerry's. Guy loved it too much. He wanted to eat the whole thing but I'm mean and threw most of it away. I have a bunch of this in my hair still.
After a stop at the craft store, we came home and Guy napped and played. Then we walked to the park to swing and explore some leafs. After our walk we came home for dinner and some painting!
Guy did some finger painting for his dad's Father's Day present. He did a really good job for wanting to eat the paint. The only bad thing is I painted the canvas too dark! Stupid mama! Oh well, at least Guy's contribution was amazing.
A bath was next - duh! Then we played a bit and read a story and I put the the pumpkin to bed.

Now it's my bedtime!

Little Swimmer

On Monday we practiced splashing in the tub in our swimsuits. Today we did the real thing! Me and Guy went to the pool at our apartment. Guy really enjoyed himself but he would not let go of me. He was curled up to me with a death grip on my swimming suit. But he was smiling and giggling while we walked around the pool.

We use Huggie's Little Swimmer diapers. On Monday after I took him out of the tub the diaper was swollen with bathwater and was dripping everywhere. I had no idea what this diaper was suppose to do so I called Huggies. Swim diapers just keep the poo out of the pool. They are suppose to fill with water. It was a relief to know I was using them right. Yay chlorine!

Food Review: Kashi 7 Grain Crackers

I had a coupon for $2.00 off a Kashi product and I bought these with it so they were only 50 cents. That sat in our kitchen for probably two weeks before I opened them because I was scared they'd taste like ultra healthy grainy cardboard. THESE WERE THE BEST CRACKERS I'VE EVER HAD! They taste healthy, but yummy and refreshing. And they don't leave you feeling like crap after eating more than you should have. I will totally buy these again and I'll even pay full price. Actually, I'm going to try the other flavors first! I'm usually not a cracker fan because they are either junk food or they taste like cardboard and salt. But I give these an A+.

My husband bought me my dream car yesterday (actually it's the family car, but I'm just greedy)! It's an 04 Honda Element. That's a big upgrade from our 94 Honda Civic - which we still have. We'll give that one to Guy on his 16th birthday. Just kidding - we're not that mean. I'm still learning to keep the Element between the lines on the road. The gas mileage is a little worse than my Civic, but not by much. Did you know you can sleep in these? I don't want to, but the front and back chairs fold down so it can sleep two and maybe a little baby. We've been looking at Elements for awhile and this is the color I wanted. Not like color matters, but what luck!

My Husband's Home "Office"

My husband is a smart fellow, but he doesn't care too much about paper work, special events, or chores. So this is what I do for him.

In/To-Do Basket
We each have our own In Basket near the front door. This is where I sort the mail. Also, if I find weird mechanical parts around the house I put them in my husbands little basket in case it's his. Personally, I take care of my pile (or make a little dent) every Wednesday - AKA Office Day. My husband is better and usually takes care of his everyday. Each of these containers cost $1 at The Dollar Tree.

Bulletin Board
I keep a bulletin board up in the dining room that kind of a reminder for my husband on what's going on. The dining room works great since he'll actually look at it. I keep a calendar of events he should know about, a chore list, and any ongoing paperwork he is dealing with. All of these supplies (cork board, white board, tacks) were leftover stuff for our college days. Except the plastic container that holds pens and tacks, that came with lunch meat in it. Oh yeah, I printed the calendar online at

Soup Night!

Tried a new soup tonight - Bacon and Potato Soup!It was delicious and I didn't have to buy anything special to make this one which was nice.
Instead of the low-sodium chicken broth I used my homemade chicken stock. I made rolls to go with this soup.

I spent awhile in the kitchen today and built a blockage so Guy would stop unloading the dirty dishwasher, getting close to the oven, and crawling up my leg. He was getting pretty creative with getting past my blockage of chairs and boxes. Guy is smart.

More tackles...

Tuesday is my home cleaning/organizing day and I meant to clean up Guy's room but didn't get around to it until today. Whenever I found something of his around the house I would just throw it in this big mess in his room and I was driving me bonkers! It looks very clean now! I even found a place in his room to put the trash can where he can't access it.

(Guy loves listening to his jambox.)

Tackle It Tuesday: Laundry Room

Tackled the "Laundry Room" today. It's just a cubby off from my kitchen. It has the dryer on one side and the washer on the other - no shelves =-( I asked my husband to build me one and he said we won't be living here long enough to make it worthwhile. He better be right!

Not only do I keep all my laundry items in this area, I keep some kitchen items and lots of stuff that I might need someday - like baby food jars and broken down cardboard boxes. I also store some recycling stuff here. I didn't remove anything from the closet, but just stacked it differently. It's looks nicer, but there is still too much stuff stored here.
